Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Oregon Facilities Services department...
is to support a quality university experience through effective and timely maintenance, repair, improvement, renovation, and cleaning of campus buildings, building-systems, utilities, equipment, and grounds. Our customers are the students, faculty, and staff of the university, campus visitors, and the employees of Facilities Services.
In support of this mission, Facilities Services is committed to:
- Establish and maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and effective physical environment for the campus community.
- Provide services and support in a high quality, cost-effective manner through a work force of highly skilled employees.
- Provide and maintain the necessary tools, materials, and equipment for efficient and safe work.
- Demonstrate sound fiscal responsibility and management of budgetary resources.
- Encourage an open and free environment for the exchange of ideas and suggestions for continuing quality improvement.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation among the work units of Facilities Services.
- Emphasize ongoing and clear communication with our customers.
- Build and maintain confidence and support for Facilities Services from the university community.
In addition to the Mission Statement, which communicates a clear and common vision, Facilities Services has also developed a foundation of integrated, guiding Core Principles. These Core Principles serve as ground rules that guide all members of the organization, and establish a foundation for all organizational decisions and actions. Value
Quality: product and service characteristics as judged by the customer; freedom from deficiencies.
Cost: effective use of resources; competitive and on-target; productivity without waste.
Schedule: time & sequencing; work is developed, planned, communicated and adhered to.
Stewardship
Resource Management: highest benefit for the long term; fiscally responsible decision-making regarding personnel, facilities and equipment.
Regulatory/Code Compliance: pro-active; assurance of safety.
Education: of selves to improve our ability to be good stewards; of others to promote understanding of good stewardship.
