"The collection of trees on the University of Oregon campus has developed into an extensive, informal arboretum fulfilling an important public access and habitat niche in the city's urban forest. The university's trees represent an impressive diversity, from native northwest trees to representatives from all over the world. Many of these trees are found nowhere else in western Oregon. At this point almost 500 species and cultivars are represented on the campus, which has a total inventory of nearly 4,000 individual specimens."
