Building Manager Program

FACILITIES SERVICES CAMPUS BUILDING MANAGER PROGRAM

The purpose of the Building Manager Program is to facilitate communications between Facilities Services and the occupants and users of all campus buildings. In addition, the Building Manager Program provides a forum for discussion and resolution of related problems. The program also strives to educate building users with regard to building systems and operations, and responsible stewardship of campus facilities.

Each building on campus has a designated building manager. Additional departmental contacts may also be designated in buildings with multiple departments. Duties and responsibilities of building managers and department contact persons include:

Coordinates the reporting of necessary building repairs to Facilities Services.

Receives information on building problems from building occupants and contacts Facilities Services with pertinent details. Serves as central contact regarding building problems for both the building occupants and Facilities Services

Reports unsafe building conditions to Facilities Services, the Office of Public Safety and/or Environmental Health & Safety.

Receives information from Facilities Services on planned and emergency utility shutdowns and may assist Facilities Services in notifying building occupants of shutdowns.

Coordinates with Public Safety on the dissemination of information regarding potential safety or security hazards, or threats to personal safety.

Serves as primary building/department contact with Facilities Services Custodial operations.

Duties and responsibilities of the Program manager include:

Maintain current listing, including telephone and electronic mail, of building managers and departmental contacts.

Publication of building manager newsletter.

Conduct periodic information exchange and educational meetings.

Coordinate ad hoc or focus groups to discuss and recommend resolution of specific, identified problems/issues.

Serve as a resource for problem investigation/resolution.

Provide a system for customer feedback and performance measurement.

Notification to building occupants and users of planned utility and building system shutdowns.

Maintain electronic/telephone communication system for emergency notification.
