This turbine generator is rated to generate 1.5 megawatts at capacity.  Campus use of electricity is approximately 6 megawatts during the winter and 9 megawatts during the summer.  Thus, the 1.5 megawatts generated by turbine generator #1 in addition to the 2.5 megawatts generated by turbine generator #3 could produce up to 2/3 of the campus demand during the winter and 1/2 of the campus demand during the summer (assuming both units are operating at capacity simultaneously).  This saves not only on electrical costs, but on peak usage costs as well.
