Building Maintenance and Repair

Certainly, a major cornerstone of the foundation of work performed by Facilities Services is the ongoing maintenance and repair of over 3 million square feet of academic building space.

We believe the most productive and cost-effective way to do this is by working within a zone management system. Zone maintenance brings together all the necessary staff and expertise to care for a specific group of buildings. (See zone map)

All repair and maintenance work is either performed or coordinated by the assigned Zone Team. Each team consists of a blend of skilled trades staff, including electricians, carpenters, painters, plumbers and HVAC technicians.

Working in conjunction with the Zone Maintenance Teams, the Repair Team is specifically responsible for interior and exterior lighting and elevator operation. The Repair Team is on duty during the evening hours, providing quick response to any and all building emergencies occuring after the Zone Teams have left for the day.
